You prayed silently

Alex Larkin sent a prayer request:

Dear prayer team,

Thank you so much for your prayers for Estrella and Jorge. Estrella is recovering well, though is understandably discouraged by the isolation and being apart from her husband. She expects to be discharged on the 20th, after her birthday. (We'll celebrate with a family videocall.)

Jorge continues to be in the fight. He is consuming five liters of oxygen per day, and his doctors tell him that today and the next few days will be the most intense. He is only allowed to use his cellphone for a few minutes a day.

Other prayer updates:
1. I did a detailed check of Job 38 and 39, making several dozen notes over the course of 19 hours. However, I requested help for the last three chapters due to my other responsibilities and the closeness of the wedding.
2. Please pray that Patty's academic advisor would prioritize reviewing her thesis revisions.
3. For continued wisdom and open doors as we plan the civil and religious weddings.
4. For Peru's electoral process and government transition. (99.563% of the votes have been counted and the winning party is ahead by 0.301%- 60,365 votes.)

Finally, we are so thankful to God for all of the help and prayers we are receiving from so many people for the wedding, and for the doors he is opening.

God bless,

Alex

Alex Larkin sent a prayer request:

Dear prayer team,

I would like to ask for prayer for Patty's cousin Estrella and her husband Jorge. Both are sick with COVID. She is stable and is staying at a state-run complex for two weeks (as to not endanger her in-laws). Her husband is an inpatient at a hospital, with 15% of his lungs compromised. Please pray that Jorge would be able to have access to excellent medical attention and supplies, and for the safe recovery of them both.

Thank you so much. Estrella is like a sister to Patty.

God bless,

Alex

Alex Larkin sent a prayer request:

Dear prayer team,

My apologies, I meant to write that we are getting married on June 30th (civil) and *July* 1st (religious).

Despite my careful proofreading, that one got away from me.

Save the date! And be sure to RSVP for the religious wedding at http://tiny.cc/alex-patty-lima if you haven't done so already. You are all invited!

Thanks and God bless,

Alex

Dear prayer team, thank you so much for your prayers! I have some encouraging news items that we can thank God together for:

We finished the consultant check of the Wanca translation of Ecclesiastes in just a day and a half! This is the product of a very experienced team working with a very experienced consultant (Mike, my mentor). Also, because of good access to study materials and plenty of time to review and dialogue via typed notes beforehand.

I was able to review Job 38 for the Panao translation team! Just the one chapter took me 10 hours.

All of the issues with paperwork and my residency have been taken care of. Peruvian Migrations is very organized and responsive!

Patty and I now have a confirmed date for our civil wedding! We will get married on Wednesday June 30th, 159 days after our previous date of January 22nd. The religious ceremony will be on Thursday July 1st, a day later.

Patty has finished the revisions to her thesis!
These are the next steps she anticipates:
1. Her academic advisor will review the edits for approval, and formally submit the revised work to the university
2. The university will review it and set a date for her to defend it before a panel of judges
3. Patty defends her thesis
4. The judges approve it
It will probably be at least two months before she defends.

Please pray:
-- For me as I review Job chapters 39-42. The work is very rewarding, but it is also mentally exhausting.
-- For continued health and recovery in Peru, resulting in a reduction of restrictions.
-- That the next steps in Patty's thesis would go as anticipated.
-- For wisdom and open doors as we plan the civil and religious weddings.
-- For wisdom for me as I seek to balance my work with my personal life during this busy season.

Finally, Patty and I thank you for all of your prayers for her thesis and our wedding process. It means so much to us!

How can we be praying for you?

Thank you and God bless,

Alex

Alex Larkin sent a prayer request:

Dear prayer team,

Thank you so much for your prayers! God is answering them. Yesterday I picked up my corrected passport, took it to the clinic to get my name on my health certificate corrected, and then registered my new passport with Peruvian Migrations online. Just now, not even 24 hours later, Migrations approved my update! Patty and I are in communication with the city Municipality and are making progress with the marriage paperwork too. We are very excited as we contemplate the very real possibility of our civil wedding being on June 30th and the religious ceremony being on July 1st- the same month as Peru’s 200th birthday.

Please pray for:
• I am checking Job chapters 38-42 for the Panao Quechua translation team. This is where God answers Job, through to the end. Next week, I will also be working with my Mentor Mike and the Wanca translation team as we review their translation of Ecclesiastes. Please pray for wisdom and insight for us as we work through some of the most rich, poetic portions of Scripture.
• In February I submitted the paperwork to renew my residency, but yesterday noticed that it hasn’t yet been registered in the Migrations database. Please pray that I would be able to get that sorted out with Migrations without any further issues.
• That the final steps for getting married would fall into place without issue.
• For Patty, as she finishes her thesis revisions. Her university told her that she has until June 1st to submit the revised thesis.
• The Peruvian final elections, which will be on June 6th. Please pray that everyone would vote wisely.

How can I be praying for you?

Thank you and God bless,

Alex

Alex Larkin sent a prayer request:

Dear prayer team,

Good news! Today my embassy appointment went well, and the friend carrying my documents made it to Lima okay (Despite a close call with getting gas and her COVID test results in time.)

Our translation work on Job is going well, with good internet connections. Exodus and Psalms are also coming along nicely.

I should have my corrected passport within three weeks. Please pray that the final steps for getting married would fall into place without issue.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

God bless,

Alex
